About Rob Taylor
A Career Dedicated to the People of Davie and Davidson Counties.
I’m Rob Taylor, and for more than three decades, I’ve served the people of Davie and Davidson Counties as a career prosecutor. On January 1, 1995, I stepped into the courtroom for the first time as an Assistant District Attorney- and I’ve been fighting for justice ever since.
I’m not a politician. I’m a prosecutor. And after 30 years of working on the front lines of our criminal justice system, I’m running to serve as your next District Attorney- not to fill someone’s shoes, but because I’ve earned the experience, judgment, and trust required to lead.
Education and Legal Background
B.A., English Literature
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1991
B.A., Communications
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1991
Juris Doctor (J.D.)
UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, 1994
I chose law because I believed in standing up for victims, enforcing the law, and making my community safer. That belief has never changed.
Family
I have been married for 31 years to my amazing wife, Gena, Executive Director of Smart Start of Davie County, and we have two adult children who both attended Davie High School and went on to graduate magna cum laude from NC State and UNCW.
Unmatched Experience in the Courtroom
Over the course of my career, I have handled nearly every type of criminal case imaginable:
Homicides
Armed Robberies
Drug trafficking and distribution
Sexual and physical abuse of children
Gun violence
Domestic violence
Assaults and serious felonies
I am one of only a handful of prosecutors in North Carolina with over 30 years of continuous service- and that experience matters. It means I’ve earned the wisdom and judgment to lead the District Attorney’s Office effectively and ethically from day one.
Supporting Law Enforcement- 24/7
Our officers deserve a DA and his staff who picks up the phone.
For decades, I’ve worked hand-in-hand with local law enforcement - and not just as a prosecutor, but as a partner in justice. I am available to them around the clock because I know how important it is for prosecutors and police to collaborate early and often in every investigation.
Together, we’ve built strong, lawful cases that keep our communities safe- and we’ll continue to do so.
Deep Roots in Community Service
Justice doesn’t just stop at the courthouse. I’ve always believed in giving back to the community I serve- because being a prosecutor means being a public servant in every sense of the word.
Community Involvement:
Senior Services Advisory Board, Davie County
Davie County YMCA Board
Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (Vice Chair, Chair)
Child Fatality Task Force
Sexual Assault Response Team
Co-Founder and Multi-Disciplinary Team Leader, The Dragonfly House- Children’s Advocacy Center serving Davie and Davidson Counties since 2010
Elected Office:
Town Commissioner, Mocksville (Elected in 2012 and proudly serving since)
My community involvement keeps me grounded, connected and aware of the real-world impact of our justice system.
Why I’m Running
This election isn’t about politics- it’s about public safety, public trust, and leadership that’s earned.
I’ve never sought the spotlight. I’ve sought justice. I’m running because this office deserves a leader who has prosecuted the toughest cases, supported the victims who needed a voice, and worked with our officers day and night to get the job done.
The District Attorney’s Office is not an entry-level position. It’s a sacred trust. I’m running to ensure that our laws are enforced fairly, our communities remain safe, and our DA’s Office continues to serve the people- not politics.
Let’s Build a Safer, Strong Community- Together
I’m ready to lead on day one, because I’ve already spent 30 years preparing for it.
